Tool guide
Choose the right image output format
The image resizer can re-encode supported JPG, PNG, and WebP inputs as a browser-supported JPEG, PNG, or WebP output. You can keep the source dimensions or change them before downloading the new file.
Output formats are checked in your browser; unsupported choices are unavailable.
How to convert an image format
- Load a supported imageChoose a JPG, PNG, or WebP file in the image resizer. The output dimensions initially match the source image.
- Select an output formatChoose JPEG, PNG, or WebP from the format list. Options the current browser cannot export are disabled.
- Review and downloadCheck the generated preview and output details, then download the verified copy. The filename extension matches the generated format.
Image format questions
Which format should I choose?
PNG supports transparency and lossless output. JPEG is widely supported but does not preserve transparency. WebP can support transparency and lossy encoding; compatibility depends on the browser and intended destination.
Will a converted file always be smaller?
No. Encoding settings and image content affect output size. Review the displayed result before downloading; format conversion is not a guarantee of smaller files.
Does this converter change dimensions?
The format option is part of the image resizer. Its dimensions begin at the source size, but you can adjust them before making the output.
